Pediatrics Department of Private TOBB ETÜ Hospital involves the families of children in diagnosis, treatment and maintenance plans of children, enables children to spend every moment they endure in the hospital with their families and makes the children feel they are in a playing environment rather than a hospital while protecting the health of children at all ages and treating their diseases

Department is organized in order to render diagnosis, treatment and protective health services to infants and teenagers within 0-18 age range. Physical examination, diagnosis and treatment is rendered by experienced pediatricians, starting from the delivery, as well as physicians specialized in sub branches, such as neonatology, allergy, hematology, nephrology, infectious diseases and molecular genetics.

Health service is rendered to every children and each child patient within our system.

Children’s Health and Diseases Department of Private TOBB ETÜ Hospital comprises of Newborn Baby’s Health, Baby’s and Children’s Health Outpatient, Children’s Emergency, Inpatient Service sub-units.

Baby’s and Children’s Health Outpatient Department

Our Baby’s and Children’s Health Outpatient is a unit comprised of a waiting area that includes a separate application and children playing room and processing room, vaccination, bloodletting and a separate breast feeding rooms located at the first floor of our hospital.

In our Children’s Outpatient Department unit the growth, development, immunization and nutrition of all children and teenagers from their birth until they are 18 are monitored by academics and pediatricians as per rendezvous system and establishing the fundamentals of a health adolescence life is targeted by taking care to provide a healthy childhood and adolescence.

Services are rendered to children at 4 different stages in our outpatient department.

a) “Follow-Up” of Babies

A separate room is used for this purpose in our polyclinic unit “Follow-Up” of babies is also conducted in other rooms as well. All health monitoring and controls of babies both born in and brought into our hospital are conducted here.

TOBB ETÜ Baby Package Service”, which includes “continuous monitoring” in which health controls are performed starting from birth until the baby is 36 months old and protective services are also rendered to all “TOBB ETÜ Babies” born in our hospital.


Definition of TOBB ETU Baby


All necessary follow up of our children starting from birth and their treatments in required cases may be performed both as ambulatory treatment in our outpatient and as inpatient treatment in our hospital. In case of medical emergencies our emergency service has the staff and equipment for providing adequate intervention for our children.

Examination of our babies is conducted primarily at the first week following birth, then with 1 and 2 month intervals in the first year and with 6 months or 1 year intervals after the 2nd year. In these examinations the physical, social and psychological development of the babies are evaluated and their vaccinations are administered by taking the suggestions of Turkish Ministry of Health and World Health Organization into consideration. In case of any disease their treatment shall be administered by taking the instructions of our physicians who bear the required senior specialization into account.

5th day or first week control of all babies who have been born in our hospital are done by the pediatricians who have delivered the baby and monitored the mother.

Their general controls following this period are conducted by the same doctor or one of the other pediatrician in our outpatient department.


Breast Feeding Room

Our hospital is a “Baby Friendly Hospital” and our hospital is supported by all of its personnel by the required care and sensitivity regarding administration of mother’s milk which is the most suitable food for the babies and the baby feeding only from his/her mother.

In order to enable mothers to feed their babies in an appropriate way and to support breast feeding of the mother, a separate “Breast Feeding Room” is arranged in our outpatient department so that practical trainings can be conducted by the Physicians and Nurses. In this room our staff show the breast feeding methods to mothers in practice. Also the resolution of questions and problems regarding breast feeding is ensured. “Training Documentation” regarding breast feeding is also utilized.


b) Examination of Children with Problems and Sick Children

The examination, diagnosis, treatment and daily monitoring of all children who have any problems or complaints are performed within our outpatient department.

An opportunity to be examined by five pediatricians at the same time is provided here all day long. Examinations of patients, to whom rendezvous are given and who have resorted to our hospital for examination, are done and their diagnosis and treatments are arranged by our pediatricians. Service is rendered in each room through a Nurse or Health Support Personnel, and coverings and materials used for the patient is changed after each patient.

c) Process and Monitoring Room

There is a two bed “Monitoring Room” for our patients whose emergency admittance would be performed during examination or to be observed for a short time. Treatments such as intravenous interventions, steam and oxygen treatments, oral or intravenous fluid treatment and antipyretics are implemented and monitored here. The patients being monitored here can also be admitted to the rooms on the second floor so that their diagnosis, treatment and monitoring can be done.

d) Bloodletting and Vaccination Room

In this unit there is also a room in which blood samples are collected for examination and intravenous implementations are carried out. These examination samples (blood, feces, urine and culture etc.) are sent directly to the laboratories via central vacuum system.

All vaccines recommended in the International Routine Vaccination calendar are administered to our children. Vaccines recommended and administered by the Turkish of Health are given free of charge.

Children’s Emergency Unit

(Patient Admission without a Rendezvous / date of appointment )

Our Children’s Emergency Unit is a unit included within the general emergency department of our hospital but functionally it is operated separately.

Examination rooms, where examinations and treatments of juvenile patients are performed, are grouped as a separate area within the Emergency; and diagnosis, treatment and if necessary monitoring of the patients are conducted in this unit in which pediatricians attend our children along with a nurse specially trained for children. Also another “Breast feeding room” is available in this unit as well.

Even the slightest problems of our children may be considered as emergencies by their families. They may demand to see a physician immediately. For this reason; in order to achieve rendering health service 24 hours a day to every children who are required to attended immediately by their parents applications of all patients whose families require them to be attended immediately are meet and health service regarding their problems is promptly given by a team consisting of qualified and experienced pediatricians and nurses without the need to get a rendezvous priorly.

In required cases and within 24 hours the cases of the patients are evaluated with Senior Academics and Sub-branch pediatricians.

Patients who have been attended by our pediatricians may be taken in for short term observation in necessary cases and “Pediatric Care and Treatment Protocols” are implemented to them. If the patients who are observed for 6 hours at most should be admitted to the hospital they are admitted to the patient rooms on the 2nd Floor and are monitored.

In the Emergency Department there is a “Rejuvenation Room” in which small surgical interventions and rejuvenation procedures are performed and which is equipped with modern devices to render services to emergency patients. Owing to this structure the Emergency Service of our Hospital is a unit suitable to render Children’s Emergency services.

Inpatient Unit

The patients attended at the Emergency and Outpatient Department are treated as inpatients when the clinical situation requires. Children with health problems that require them to be admitted to the hospital are welcomed in our “in-patient unit” which is an environment designed to make them feel at home with their families. Our admitted in-patients are treated within the shortest staying time possible in line with the newest and state of the art medical and bio-psycho-social approaches.

The rooms on the second floor of our hospital are used for these purposes. An adequate number of rooms is used in accordance with the number of our children in-patients to be monitored. All kinds of infrastructure equipment for medical interventions (oxygen, vacoum, aspirator, etc.) are available in the rooms. In terms of service quality these rooms are furnished as per 5-star hotel standards.

Our department has adopted Family Centered Hospital principle. It is aimed to provide the support and assistance of the family for our admitted in-patients who are planned to be examined, treated and cared during such processes. With this in mind, family members that desire to stay with our children patients are always welcome.

Required consultations of the child patient regarding pediatrics are done by relevant specialists with the consent and support of the family.
